The Renaissance Performing Arts Association has announced the first show in the 2018-2019 Richland Bank Broadway Series: Disney’s Newsies the Broadway Musical running July 28-29 and August 4-5 on the stage of the Renaissance Theatre. Renaissance Artistic Director Michael Thomas will direct the show and Kelly Knowlton will be the Music Director for the production.

Newsies tells the stirring tale of the 1899 New York City Newsboys Strike with a Tony Award-winning score by Alan Menken and Jack Feldman, and a book by Tony Award winner Harvey Fierstein. The show features classic songs from the 1992 Disney film including “Carrying the Banner,” “Seize the Day,” and “Santa Fe,” alongside several original songs exclusive to the Broadway musical.

Auditions will take place Saturday, April 28 from 10 AM – 3 PM and Monday, April 30 from 4:30 PM-6:30 PM. Auditions are open to actors ages 13 and above. Tickets start at $15 to Newsies are now on sale to current Renaissance Members at the Box Office and via phone at (419) 522-2726. Tickets go on sale online and to the public beginning Apri 3 at noon. A limited number of $50 Family Four Packs will be available for this production.
