We’re different than those other sites. Here at 1812Blockhouse, we engage in community-based journalism.
What is community-based journalism, you ask? It’s journalism that places you, the reader, at the forefront of everything we do. We’re the only ones doing this type of work in this part of the world, and you are the direct beneficiary.
These are the hallmarks of community journalism:
Since 2016, we’ve been publishing community-based journalism and commentary about Mansfield and Richland County.
To remain independent and to put you first, we rely almost entirely on donations from our readers. Your contributions not only keep the lights on; they allow us to compensate our writers, to invest meaningfully in our work and our research, and pursue our mission of making our readers the best-informed in the area.
We respectfully ask that you consider supporting local journalism in Richland County by becoming a member or through an outright donation.
Memberships are a brand-new feature here at 1812. Over the coming weeks we will be adding to member benefits, but already members receive a week of free advertising on our homepage as well as access to our expanded Richland History feature (coming right after the first of the year).
On behalf of everyone here at 1812Blockhouse and TotalLocal Media, thank you for your support. We welcome your feedback and we’ll strive every day to be worthy of your trust. 1812Blockhouse makes a difference every day because of readers like you.
