Mansfield Richland County Public Library, in collaboration with Mankind Murals, is thrilled to launch the Mural Stories Writing Contest. This initiative calls upon local residents to engage creatively with the vivid murals that beautify our city’s landscape. Each mural on Mansfield’s streets weaves its own tale of our community’s past, culture, and dreams, and now you have a chance to add your voice to this colorful narrative.

The contest welcomes submissions from individuals of all ages, categorized into three groups: children, teens, and adults. Whether you’re a budding young writer or an experienced adult scribe, we encourage you to express your interpretation of Mansfield’s murals through your writing.

Winners will be selected in each age category by a panel of judges and awarded a $25 gift card. Additionally, selected entries will have the honor of being published in the upcoming Mural Stories Book—a lasting tribute to the community’s creativity.

Participants who choose to write about one of the three designated library garage murals will be considered for a unique opportunity to present their stories during the Mural Stories Event. This event is scheduled for Saturday, July 13 at 10:30 AM at the Main Library parking lot, located at the corner of Mulberry and W. Third.

Submission Guidelines

  • Submission Period: Open from May 1 to June 15.
  • Entry Limit: One entry per person.
  • Screening: All submissions will be reviewed for appropriateness. While minor edits may be made to enhance readability, the essence of your creative vision will remain untouched.

For more details on the contest rules and how to submit your entry, visit mankindmurals.org. Should you have any questions or require assistance, please do not hesitate to reach out via email to [email protected].
