Lexus Grand Prix Opens 61st Season Of Racing At Mid-Ohio

The 61st season of racing begins at Mid-Ohio Sports Car Course this weekend (May 13-15) with a premier sports car racing event under new title sponsor Lexus. The world-class IMSA WeatherTech SportsCar Championship returns to the 2.258-mile, 13-turn permanent road course in Lexington as the Lexus Grand Prix at Mid-Ohio.

The luxury performance automotive company takes on title sponsorship duties for the first time at an IMSA event at a track that holds great significance to the brand. Competing in the GT Daytona (GTD) category, Lexus won three consecutive races from 2018 to 2020 at Mid-Ohio and placed second in class last year.

All-New Honda Civic Type R Prototype to Make U.S. Debut At Mid-Ohio

Honda’s all-new 2023 Civic Type R prototype will make its U.S. public debut during the July 1-3 Honda Indy 200 NTT INDYCAR SERIES weekend at the Mid-Ohio Sports Car Course in Lexington. 

The highly anticipated Civic Type R will be wearing a special camouflage designed exclusively for Type R. In addition, the Civic Type R will serve as the presenting sponsor of the Honda Indy 200 race. The car will make several demonstration hot laps during the weekend, and serve as the lead vehicle at the start of the NTT INDYCAR SERIES race on Sunday, July 3.

The all-new 2023 Honda Civic Type R is already showcasing its trackworthy credentials, having recently set a new track record for a front-wheel drive car at the legendary Suzuka Circuit, home to the Formula 1 Japanese Grand Prix. During final performance testing and evaluation, the new Civic Type R lapped the Suzuka’s 3.6-mile figure-8 configuration in 2 minutes 23.120 seconds.

Lexus Joins as Title Sponsor of IMSA Sports Car Weekend at Mid-Ohio

The luxury performance automotive brand Lexus has joined as title sponsor for the season-opening event at Mid-Ohio Sports Car Course, featuring the IMSA WeatherTech SportsCar Championship, May 13-15. The exciting weekend of world-class sports car racing, which the motorsports facility was built to showcase, will now be named the Lexus Grand Prix at Mid-Ohio.

Lexus has achieved dominating results on the 2.258-mile, 13-turn road course in Lexington, Ohio since IMSA returned to the North Central Ohio track in 2018. Competing in the GT Daytona (GTD) category of the IMSA WeatherTeach SportsCar Championship, Lexus has won three of its four previous races at Mid-Ohio along with a second-place finish in class last year.

Mid-Ohio Announces 2022 Race Season

Mid-Ohio Sports Car Course will showcase five race weekends again for its 2022 schedule, but with an exciting, new feature confirmed for next year’s 61st season of racing at the legendary road course. For the very first time, the NASCAR Camping World Truck Series will race on the 2.258-mile, 13-turn track layout on Saturday, July 9th.

The NASCAR Xfinity Series has produced great road racing for its previous eight appearances at Mid-Ohio Sports Car Course. Now the NASCAR Camping World Truck Series will continue that tradition and visit for its inaugural round at the track on the weekend of July 8-9. This new addition realigns Mid-Ohio’s NASCAR Xfinity Series stop to Portland International Raceway for a new event in the Pacific Northwest also promoted by Green Savoree Racing Promotions, which owns and operates Mid-Ohio Sports Car Course.

Vintage Motorcycle Days Returns To Mid-Ohio

This weekend at Mid-Ohio Sports Car Course motorcyclists from across the country will unite for the AMA Vintage Motorcycle Days presented by Royal Enfield, July 23-25. 

This is one of the largest annual gatherings worldwide of motorcyclists, enthusiasts, swap meet vendors and collectors. It is all for a great cause serving as a fundraiser for the American Motorcyclist Association (AMA) Hall of Fame, a non-profit organization located in nearby Pickerington that works to preserve the history and tradition of motorcycling in the United States.

Fun, Patriotic Weekend Coming To Mid-Ohio

A fireworks display, a movie screening, camping activities and 10 races in total will make for a spectacular weekend at Mid-Ohio Sports Car Course beginning Friday  for The Honda Indy 200 Presented by the HPD Ridgeline, July 2-4. The stars and cars of the NTT INDYCAR SERIES arrive to do battle again on the 2.258-mile, 13-turn road course. Pataskala, Ohio-based Meyer Shank Racing, coming off its dramatic win in the Indianapolis 500 in May, hopes to repeat that success at its home track with Jack Harvey piloting the No. 60 Honda. Another local favorite is Rahal Letterman Lanigan Racing with New Albany, Ohio’s Graham Rahal trying to match his victory from 2015 at Mid-Ohio. A Full Weekend Of Racing Ahead At Mid-Ohio

This coming weekend, Mid-Ohio Sports Car Course is hosting the 39th Annual Vintage Grand Prix sanctioned by the Sportscar Vintage Racing Association (SVRA), the longest continuously-running spectator event at the track.

Featuring both historic and modern day racing action, SVRA’s SpeedTour weekend brings doubleheader races in International GT and Miata Heritage Cup, and also features races in Historic GT/GTP/ALMS and Classic/Vintage Endurance. Twelve additional group races are featured across multiple classes of vintage and classic cars.

The latest in racing technology will also be on track with two classes from the Trans Am Series and open-wheel, tripleheader races from F4 U.S. Championship and Formula Regional Americas Championship Powered by Honda. Dawn 150 Set For June 4 At Mid-Ohio

Stock car and road racing fans in the Midwest will have a convergence of sorts when the ARCA Menards Series returns to Mid-Ohio Sports Car Course for the first time since 1965.

Cincinnati-based brand Dawn Dish, America’s #1 dish liquid, will be the entitlement sponsor of the Dawn 150, scheduled for Friday evening, June 4, on the 2.258-mile, 13-turn road course.

Ticket Sales Dates Announced For 60th Season at Mid-Ohio

The 60th season of racing at Mid-Ohio Sports Car Course will feature its five traditional events in 2021. The legendary road course in Lexington will showcase some of the premier series in all of motorsports for fans as it returns to a full slate of racing starting in May.

On Tuesday, March 23, the renewal period begins for Mid-Ohio Season Race Pass and Season Motorhome spaces for 2020 customers. Then, on Tuesday, April 6, event tickets will go on sale at advance pricing at a savings before standard pricing begins on Tuesday, April 27. After working closely with the Ohio Governor’s office and local health officials, IMSA and Green Savoree Racing Promotions have announced today that the Acura Sports Car Challenge at Mid-Ohio Sports Car Course set for next weekend, September 25-27, will be open to a limited number of spectators. Those who attend must adhere to necessary health and safety protocols for COVID-19.

Herta Takes Honda Indy 200 Race 2

After a challenging 2020 NTT INDYCAR SERIES season, Andretti Autosport finally broke through to Victory Circle in dominating fashion as Colton Herta scored his third career win in Race 2 of the Honda Indy 200 at Mid-Ohio doubleheader Sunday at Mid-Ohio Sports Car Course.

NTT P1 Award winner Herta led an Andretti Autosport sweep of the podium in the No. 88 Capstone Turbine #ShiftToGreen Honda, beating teammate Alexander Rossi in the No. 27 NAPA AUTO PARTS / AutoNation Honda to the finish line by 1.3826 seconds. Fellow Andretti driver Ryan Hunter-Reay finished third in the No. 28 DHL Honda, 2.4965 seconds behind Herta.

Rounding out the top five behind the Andretti trio were Ohio native Graham Rahal in the No. 15 Fifth Third Bank Honda and Marcus Ericsson in the No. 8 Huski Chocolate Chip Ganassi Racing Honda. More…

After working with the Ohio Governor’s office and local health officials to confirm a reschedule date, INDYCAR and Green Savoree Racing Promotions have released the details and protocols for limited spectator attendance at The Honda Indy 200 at Mid-Ohio Sports Car Course set for this weekend, September 11-13.

Ohio Governor Mike DeWine announced today that a variance to the Ohio Department of Health Director’s Order has been granted for a total up to 6,000 spectators to attend. Currently purchased event tickets and Mid-Ohio Season Race Passes will be valid for entry. A very limited number of tickets remain for sale at midohio.com on a first come, first serve basis. Just a handful of days after announcing a doubleheader weekend for Honda Indy 200 at Mid-Ohio Sports Car Course (see our story here), track officials have now announced that the event will be postponed until sometime later in 2020.

The news release stated:

Honda Indy 200 Now Features INDYCAR Doubleheader

Mid-Ohio Sports Car Course will open its gates to spectators again on a limited basis for The Honda Indy 200 at Mid-Ohio on August 7-9. The event is now a doubleheader weekend for the NTT INDYCAR SERIES with 75-lap races on both Saturday, August 8, and Sunday, August 9, on the 2.258-mile, 13-turn road course in Lexington.

The event will operate under the “Responsible RestartOhio” guidelines for COVID-19 after receiving approval from the local health department for limited spectator attendance. Tickets will be sold on a first come, first served basis. Customers are encouraged to purchase online in advance at midohio.com. Motorhome and tent camping will also be permitted during the event. The grandstands, paddock and pits will not be open to spectators to adhere to social distancing guidelines. More…
