It is all happening in Downtown Mansfield this Friday, May 7.

From Shop Hop, to Pop Up Shops and Downtown Open House, there is lots to do downtown that evening!  During Shop Hop, stop by great spots like Richland Carrousel Park, Phoenix Brewery, Martinis, and many others and enjoy a great night downtown! Most businesses are open till 8pm or later, so shop, dine, and explore!

Downtowns In Mansfield And Cleveland Weather The Pandemic

Across the county, the pandemic has changed the ways in which Americans live and work. In terms of the latter, it has impacted the ways in which traditional central city areas function — providing new opportunities for creative approaches to downtown revitalization.

We recently ran across an interesting post discussing downtown Cleveland’s approach to the pandemic. It comes from “The Land,” a new news startup that, like 1812Blockhouse and Richland Source, is a member of LION Publishers, the country’s foremost consortium of independent online news publications. Downtown Cleveland is, of course, much larger than Mansfield’s — but some of the same factors are at play in both, as is a sense of optimism in both about the future.

Facade Improvement Program’s First Project Showcases Landmark Building

Driving along North Main Street this weekend, something attracted our attention.

The first visible signs of Downtown Mansfield, Inc. (DMI)’s new Facade Improvement Program became apparent over the last few days with new awnings installed on the historic Voegele Building.

Council Gets A First Look At A Proposed New-Look Main Street

In its almost 200 year history, Mansfield’s Main Street has had many lives and, with the passing of time,and with changes in the ways in which downtowns function, it has developed a bit of a split personality.

That’s about to change, if a plan introduced this week to Mansfield City Council’s Streets Committee at its first regular meeting of the year gets a green light.

An overview of the Main Street Corridor Plan, developed by EDGE and K.E. McCartney & Associates, was provided by Plan steering committee members Downtown Mansfield, Inc. CEO Jennifer Kime and City Engineer Bob Bianchi, took Committee members on a visual and narrative walk through of the hoped-for changes to the City’s primary north-south street. More…

Downtown Christmas Tree Lighting Goes Virtual

In cooperation with local and state health guidelines for social distancing during the recent surge in COVID19 cases, the 2020 Downtown Mansfield annual Christmas tree lighting ceremony, held in partnership with the City of Mansfield, will be hosted virtually this year. In lieu of an in person event, historically held at Richland Carrousel Park, the celebration will move online during the previously scheduled date of Friday, December 4.

“The Downtown Mansfield Christmas Time in the City Tree Lighting event has been one of our most loved and we have been thrilled to see it grow over the years. Unfortunately, after much discussion, we feel that the best decision is the most difficult one and we will be taking the Christmas tree lighting to a virtual platform this year.” Jennifer Kime, CEO of DMI said, “We invite you be a part of our downtown holiday traditions in a new way, this year.” More…

Tiny Tim Shoppe To Open On November 21

Downtown Mansfield, Inc. has announced the upcoming opening of the Tiny Tim Christmas Shoppe for 2020.

One of Mansfield’s great holiday traditions, the Tiny Tim Shoppe, will officially open on Saturday, November 21, but like many things this year – it will look different.

The Tiny Tim Shoppe is a volunteer assisted Christmas shop for children ages 12 and under. To ensure the health and safety of our guests, one reservation must be made per each child shopping. Reservations are free and 4 time slots are available per each half hour. More…

The Tiny Tim Christmas Shoppe needs you!

Downtown Mansfield, Inc. is seeking volunteers to assist children with their shopping experience. Whether your company wants to volunteer together or you’re part of a school group/organization; sign up to help! Volunteers will help children pick out gifts for family and friends as well as gift wrapping and tagging. This year, the Tiny Tim Shoppe will be located at the DMI office, 128 North Main Street.

This year will be different – all shoppers will be signing up for a specific time to shop ahead of time. There will be no walk-in shopping available. More…

Celebrate Halloween In Historic Downtown Mansfield

Downtown Mansfield, Inc. is excited to present the 2020 edition of Monsterfield Masquerade in historic downtown Mansfield! Monsterfield Masquerade will take place on Saturday, October 31 at 11:00 AM.

This year’s Halloween fun will include only downtown Trick or Treat, per the Richland County Health Department we are unable to have the parade.

Trick or Treat will take place throughout downtown beginning at 11:00 AM with lots of downtown merchants participating. Event maps with participating merchant locations are available online at facebook.com/downtownmansfield or www.shopdineexploreandmore.com.

Giving Downtown Mansfield A Clean Sweep

Mansfield Mayor Tim Theaker is pleased to announce that the City of Mansfield and Downtown Mansfield Inc. have declared Tuesday, September 22 as Operation Clean Sweep in support of Earth Stewardship Month and the Great American Clean up.

Volunteers, local business people, and organizations are being asked to don their work clothes and meet at the Gazebo in Central Park (near the Gazebo) between 4:45 PM and 5:00 PM to Plant Pride, Not Litter.

Volunteers are asked to bring their own brooms and shovels if they have them. The City of Mansfield will provide collection bags, gloves, and disposal of the litter collected. More…
