It’s been a strange fall, weather wise, in north central Ohio. The changes from the normal pattern have people and business scrambling and adjusting schedules and times.
Imagine how this impacts a place like Snow Trails, where preparation for opening includes getting, and maintaining, a sufficient base of the white stuff to enable great skiing.
Snowmaking began at the resort back on November 13 as colder temperatures gave rise to hopes for setting the 58th Season Opening Day. The return of warmer weather, at least temporarily, has meant that Opening Day has not been set.
Still, as Snow Trails noted Thursday on Facebook, “Coming off 36 hours of snowmaking and so appreciative to have stockpiled massive whales of snow to last through this weekends warmup. We have left them untouched for now and will continue building the needed base of snow next week…”
Curious as to the conditions? Snow Trails has “snow cams” set up in four locations; those can be viewed here.
1812Blockhouse will share news of Snow Trails’ season opening when that news becomes available.
