Is it possible to have too much of a good thing?
In the case of Ohio’s premier ski resort, the answer this week was… yes.
Normally, reports of impending snowfall are welcomed at Snow Trails as indicators that good skiing is ahead. In order to ski, however, visitors have to be able to reach the facility. When Winter Storm Landon triggered a Level Three Snow Emergency for several hours, however, that wasn’t the case.

This weekend, there’s even more time to enjoy it.
The Martin Luther King, Jr. Day holiday brings with it extended hours at Snow Trails. The Slopes and Tubing Park will offer extended hours beginning at 9AM Friday through Monday for Peak Days on the Slopes and in Vertical Descent.

Snow Trails is making the most of a winter which, to date, has been a couple of degrees warmer than the 2020-2021 edition.
According to the Snow Report on Sunday morning, Ohio’s premier ski resort has largely machine made, groomed snow. The crew was working hard that day and so some trails, lifts, and special features were offline for short periods of time. Terrain Park Features are set up in the Alpine Park.
Not all special features are online at present; on Sunday, only the Rustler and The Chute runs were closed.

“It’s the most wonderful time of the year” for local snow and ski enthusiasts.
Snow Trails, Ohio’s premier skiing facility, is holding its opening weekend for its 61st season today and tomorrow. Currently, this is for season passholders only. On Monday, everyone is welcome with daily lift tickets available by advanced bookings online only.
Tubing is not yet available, with additional snowmaking required.

There are several opportunities yet this month to enjoy Ohio’s finest ski resort, Snow Trails. Not only are recent snows adding to the downhill slopes, but events this month — including the 60th Annual Ski Carnival — will put a smile on any winter enthusiast’s face.
As described on its website, the resort features six chairlifts, including a slow moving Beginner’s Double Chairlift and two ski carpets dedicated to the Beginner’s Area. A third carpet lift is utilized for the Snow Tubing Park with the “Longest Tubing Lanes in Ohio.” The Resort offers 17 total trails including the Timberline trail – “Longest Trail in Ohio.” There are three glade areas, plus four terrain parks. A 9,000 sq. ft. Rental Center houses user friendly equipment and offers a self service system. More…

Ohio’s premier ski resort opened on Friday after snowfall, cold temperatures, and snowmaking combined to make it possible.
Snow Tails is open for skiing and snowboarding, as the Tweeted video announcement below shared . The slopes will be open this weekend from 9 AM to 9 PM both days.
The folks at Snow Trails remind guests that safety and good times is their number one priority. They are asking everyone to be courteous and to allow space for each other indoors and outdoors, to wear face coverings, and to follow their Safe Season Plans related to COVID-19 mandates and limits on capacities. There’s something in the air — in addition to the cold temperatures, that is — that suggests that the Opening Date for Snow Trail’s magic 60th anniversary season will be here soon.
The ski resort’s Snow Report, issued on Monday evening, describes what goes into the determination of when to open. “Snowmaking resumed today at 1PM and will run through the night! Thankful to see the forecast allow for snowmaking to continue nightly this week! Some temps are forecasted to be marginal with high humidity, so we can’t make a determination on Opening Day just yet. To build the base of snow needed we look for multiple productive nights of snowmaking at or below 29F and 60% Relative Humidity, otherwise production can be limited.” More…
There’s some not-so-out there speculation this weekend that the with the arrival of December, some snow may be falling on north central Ohio this week.

As shared by Snow Trails in its latest snow report shared on Tuesday morning, operations are currently suspended because of the inclement weather forecasted. The resort will reopen on Thursday with the Slopes at 10AM and the Tubing Park at 5PM. More…

SnowTrails, our local winter sport resort, is monitoring both the weather and the slopes, and providing continual updates around opening day and conditions at the ski resort. The latest information is that they will reopen for Kick-Off Weekend on Friday, December 13, from 3:00 PM to 9:00 PM; however, this is only for those hitting the slopes to ski or snowboard. More…

Snow Trails is getting ready for the upcoming ski season and they are inviting the public to both celebrate improvements that have been made at the resort and to start getting ready for their season-opening.
They have replaced the Zozo Party from years past, which featured bonfires, with a different kind of pre-season celebration: A November fireworks show. The event will take place on Saturday, November 9. More…
