The next film in the Renaissance Theatre’s Stephen King Film Festival will be the newest version of “IT,” on August 16, 2018 at 7:00 PM. The film festival is presented thanks to funding from Charles P. Hahn, Cleveland Financial with the guest speaker provided by the Mansfield/Richland County Public Library.

Prior to the screening, a brief lecture about the film will be given at 6:30 PM from the stage of the theatre by Dr. Mary E. Findley from Vermont Technical College. Dr. Findley is a full-time tenured professor in the VTC’s English Department. Her areas of expertise include: English Literature, Writing, Gothic Literature, Stephen King, Edgar Allan Poe and Horror. Her PhD work is specifically centered around horror’s manifestation in popular culture and what it reveals about the American psyche. She has created two academic areas at the Popular Culture Association: Stephen King and The Vampire in Literature, Culture and Film, and she currently chairs The Vampire area. She is published in her field and is currently working on a novel.

Dr. Findley will also present a free lecture at Idea Works on August 15 th at 6:00 PM called Stranger Things, Season I and Stephen King’s Works. Then, on August 16 after the IT showing, there will be a Meet & Greet/Pub Quiz at the Phoenix Brewery.

The remaining films in the series include: Carrie, October 18; The Mist, November 15; The Shining, December 13.

At the showing, you will be automatically entered into a drawing for a free one-night stay, on Halloween Night, for up to four people at the Haunted Buxton Inn in Granville.

Drawing will take place on August 16 prior to the screening of IT.
