1812Blockhouse provides regular weekend reports on road project work being conducted under the auspices of the Ohio Department of Transportation (ODOT) in Ashland, Crawford, and Richland Counties.

Such work is, of course, weather dependent. This past week, ODOT District 3 shared announcements of current and upcoming work in the three county area.

U.S. Route 42 & State Route 302 intersection improvement – The U.S. 42 and State Route 302 intersection will be converted from the current two-way stop-controlled intersection into a single lane roundabout.

CONTINUING IMPACTS

  • SR 302 eastbound direction, from U.S. 42 to Township Rd 251/1080 intersection, is closed to begin construction on the new roundabout. The intersection at U.S. 42 and SR 302 remains open, so motorists are able to travel along U.S. 42 during this phase of construction.
  • Access along SR 302 will be maintained for residents only. All residents and emergency personnel will need to enter the zone from SR 302 westbound.
  • This is phase one of the project and will approximately last from April 2024 till June 2024.
  • The detour route for all other motorists will be SR 302 west to SR 301 north to U.S. 224 west to SR 58 south to SR 302, and reverse.

Estimated completion of entire project: October 2024


State Route 89 & State Route 302 intersection improvement – The State Route 89 and State Route 302 intersection will be converted from the current two-way stop-controlled intersection into a single lane roundabout.

U.S. Route 30 resurfacing – U.S. 30, from SR 98 to just east of SR 602, will have single lane closures for a resurfacing project. Project work includes resurfacing and minor bridge work. Traffic will be maintained at all times. Estimated completion: December 2024


U.S. Route 30 culvert preservation – U.S. 30, from Crawford Wyandot Road to Old Lincoln Highway, will be reduced to one lane in each direction for a culvert maintenance project. One 12-foot lane of traffic will be maintained at all times. Estimated completion: August 2024


State Route 598 culvert replacement – State Route 598, between Middletown Road and Crestline Road, will close Monday, May 6 to complete two culvert replacements. The detour route will be SR 598 north to U.S. 30 west to SR 602 north to County Road 330 east to SR 598, and reverse. Estimated completion: Friday, May 17, 2024

State Route 13 bridge repairs – State Route 13 (N Main Street) in the city of Mansfield, between Olive Street and N Diamond Street, is closed for a bridge repair project. Traffic will be detoured from SR 13 (N Main Street) to E 6th Street to N Diamond Street, and reverse. Estimated completion: Wednesday, May 8, 2024


State Route 13 bridge repairs – NEW IMPACTS – State Route 13 (N Diamon Street) in the city of Mansfield, between Fac Ware Street and Olive Street, will close Wednesday, May 8 for a bridge repair project. The detour will be SR 13 (N Diamond Street) to E 5th Street (SR 39 east) to Wayne Street (SR 545 north) to Longview Avenue west to SR 13. Traffic traveling south can utilize N Main Street (SR 13s). Estimated completion: Thursday, June 6, 2024


State Route 61 culvert replacement – State Route 61, between Opdyke Road and Bucyrus Street (SR 98), is closed for a culvert replacement. The detour route will be SR 61 north to SR 39 west to SR 598 north to SR 98 north, back to SR 61, and reverse for southbound motorists. Estimated completion: Wednesday, May 8, 2024


State Route 95 resurfacing – State Route 95, from the Knox County line to the village of Butler’s southern corporation limits, will have single lane closures for a resurfacing project. Traffic will be maintained at all times utilizing flaggers. Estimated completion: June 2024


State Route 96 bridge replacement – State Route 96, between SR 603 and SR 545, is closed for 120 days for a bridge replacement project. The detour route will be SR 96 west to SR 545 south to SR 603 north to SR 96, and reverse. Estimated completion: Tuesday, August 20, 2024


State Route 97 culverts replacement – State Route 97, between Kelly Avenue and Bellville-Johnsville Road, will close Monday, May 6 for two consecutive culvert replacements. The detour route will be SR 97 east to I-71 north to SR 13 south to SR 97, and reverse. Estimated completion: Friday, May 17, 2024


State Route 309 eastbound overhead bridge repairs (Home Road overpass) – State Route 309 eastbound, between West 4th Street interchange and U.S. 30 interchange, will close Monday, May 6 for 10 days for bridge repairs on the Home Road overpass. The detour route for eastbound motorists is Lexington-Springmill Road to U.S. 30 east. Traffic on SR 309 westbound and traffic on Home Road will be maintained. Estimated completion: Wednesday, May 15, 2024


State Route 598 culvert replacement – State Route 598, between Dinninger Road and Henry Road, will close Monday, May 6 for a culvert replacement. The detour route will be SR 589 north to SR 98 north to SR 61 north to SR 598, and reverse. Estimated completion: Monday, May 20, 2024
