It’s time to celebrate the arrival of spring, even if there is a bit of cold in the air.

One of the sure signs of spring is the annual opening of the extraordinary Kingwood Center Gardens, one of the leading horticultural centers in the Midwest. This year promises to bring brand-new offerings to the traditional fare at Kingwood, which opens for the 2018 season on Easter Sunday, April 1.

To celebrate, we’re taking a look ahead at April happenings.

April 1 – The traditional Easter Sunrise Service takes place at 7:00 A.M. with music by the GloryWay Quartet and a living cross of lilies. No cost to attend.

Throughout the month – Workshops:

April 21 – Opening of the new Ohio Brass Exhibit, which will be in place throughout the 2018 season. detailing the triumphs of the iconic Mansfield manufacturing company headed by Charles Kelley King. The exhibit is in the first floor of Kingwood Hall.  The Hall is open for self-guided exploration Monday through Friday, 10am-2pm, and Saturday and Sunday from 11am-3pmGuided Tours, led by trained docents, are offered at 2pm on Saturdays and Sundays for $3.00 per person.

Kingwood Center Gardens is open daily between 9:00 AM and 7:00 PM. Admission is $5 per person, with no charge for children 12 and younger.
