The Shawshank Showdown is an upcoming off-season FIRST Robotics Competition event to be held on June 8 in Mansfield. Hosted by Stellar Robotics and sponsored by the Richland Area Chamber & Economic Development, this free event promises an action-packed day of robotics competition and educational opportunities for attendees of all ages.

The event provides a platform for robotics teams to showcase their skills, compete, and learn from each other. Teams from across the region are expected to participate in a series of competitive matches designed to test their robots’ capabilities. Additionally, the event includes an Education Row featuring local schools, colleges, businesses, nonprofits, and other FIRST teams, providing a unique opportunity for networking and education.

One of the unique aspects of the Shawshank Showdown is its open robot pits, allowing the public to see the inner workings of the teams’ robots. However, attendees are reminded to bring their safety glasses for protection when visiting the pits.
