On Thursday morning at approximately 9:00 AM, the METRICH Enforcement Unit, with assistance from the Mansfield Division of Police and the Allied Special Operations Response Team (ASORT), served a drug related search warrant at 75 Helen Avenue in Mansfield.

The search warrant was the result of a short term drug trafficking investigation after receiving several complaints of suspected drug activity in the neighborhood.

As a result of the search warrant, METRICH detectives seized approximately two (2) ounces of suspected methamphetamine, three (3) ounces of suspected heroin/fentanyl, four (4) ounces of suspected cocaine, marijuana, two (2) firearms and $2000.00 in U.S. currency. One of the firearms recovered was also found to have been reported stolen.

Detectives arrested and charged Broderick E. Petty with counts of Trafficking in Drugs, Possession of Drugs, Having Weapons While under Disability and Receiving Stolen Property. Broderick E. Petty was incarcerated at the Richland County Jail pending his appearance in court. Further charges may be forwarded to the Richland County Prosecutor’s Office.

METRICH Commander Lt. Joseph D. Petrycki stated “The METRICH Enforcement Unit continues to target those individuals selling drugs in the community and urges the community to continue reporting suspected drug activity.” The METRICH Enforcement Unit encourages citizens to continue to be proactive by reporting suspected drug activity.
