Mansfield Police Share Details Of Wednesday Stabbing

Earlier Wednesday afternoon at approximately 12:15 PM Mansfield Police responded to the YMCA located at 750 Scholl Road in reference to a stabbing. Once on scene, officers were advised that a verbal altercation inside the location resulted in subjects leaving the building and continuing the argument outside, near the entrance. At some point during this outside altercation, a 36 year old male victim was stabbed at least once. The victim was transported to a local hospital and left in the care of Emergency Room staff for treatment.

Patrol Officers at the scene detained a 21 year old male believed to be involved in the altercation. This was an isolated incident and initial indications are that an online argument and/or posts led to the altercation which resulted in the victim being stabbed. More…

Gunshot Detection Company Announces Mansfield Contract

Mansfield Police Report Overall Decrease In Crime Statistics

Mansfield Mayor Tim Theaker and Chief of Police Keith Porch have released 2019 statistics for crime and police service. The data was compiled by the Records Section of the Mansfield Division of Police.

The offenses that are tabulated as part of the crime statistics report are determined by the FBI Uniform Crime Report Program and are classified as crimes against persons (violent crime) and crimes against property. The offenses of murder (homicide), rape, robbery and assault make up the violent crime category. The offenses of arson, burglary, larceny and auto theft make up the property crime category. Both of these categories are referred to as Part 1 Offenses. More…

Thursday Search Warrant Yields Meth, Heroin, Cocaine, Firearms, And Cash

On Thursday morning at approximately 9:00 AM, the METRICH Enforcement Unit, with assistance from the Mansfield Division of Police and the Allied Special Operations Response Team (ASORT), served a drug related search warrant at 75 Helen Avenue in Mansfield.

The search warrant was the result of a short term drug trafficking investigation after receiving several complaints of suspected drug activity in the neighborhood. More…

Murder Suspect Arrested; Drug Cache Discovered During Arrest

On Tuesday about 7:40 PM, the U.S. Marshal’s Northern Ohio Violent Fugitive Task Force (NOVFTF) arrested Deshawn A. Dowdell on a Murder warrant issued by the Mansfield Division of Police.

The Mansfield Division of Police Major Crimes Unit had developed Deshawn A. Dowdell as a suspect in the homicide of Terrence T. Harris after a lengthy investigation. The homicide occurred on April 8, 2018 in the area of 1340 W. 4th St. in Mansfield. The arrest took place at 383 Wood St. Apt. #7 in Mansfield. During the arrest, NOVFTF Task Force Officers located numerous items of evidence related to drug trafficking and contacted the METRICH Enforcement Unit for further assistance. More…

Arrest Made In Bowman Street Homicide Investigation

On Monday, the Mansfield Division of Police, Major Crimes Unit announced that an arrest has been made in connection with the Nolan Lovett homicide. This arrest is in reference to several “911” calls received on May 3, 2018 at 2:13 PM when officers were summoned to 737 Bowman Street for a shooting.
