The RichHistory Alliance’s RichHistory Weekend continues for a second day today in Mansfield and across the county.

On Saturday, history-related attractions shared displays, tours, and other opportunities to connect with the past. One of the largest events was the annual Secret City Tour in downtown Mansfield. This year, — buildings were opened to the public – not only traditional work or living spaces, but also basement levels and unfinished areas.

One of the latter venues was the building at 121 North Adams Street. Both the exterior and interior of this structure feature decorative brickwork; one area of the inside has an original pressed tin ceiling and another an open, soaring ceiling. The space awaits hopeful reuse, possibly for a restaurant or brewery.

Another stop allowed visitors to view progress on the house on the southwest corner of Fifth and Walnut. There, owner Steven McQuillan talked about the project, which will include two, two-story living units. Significant care and attention is being given to original building materials and components. A view of the main house staircase, now revealed, is to the right.

1812Blockhouse has been collecting social media posts from the various participating locations and they are available to view at this location. This collection will be added to as the weekend progresses. The Sunday schedule can be found here.

On a related note, this is also the last day for the Ohio Civil War show at the Richland County Fairgrounds. Richland Source had a good article about that yesterday, which can be found here.

Send us your news — of an announcement, event,
club news, fundraiser – whatever! It’s easy to do online.
