Eight Ohio school districts and two private schools will share nearly $243,000 to enhance their safety and security under an expanded safety grant program launched last year by the Ohio Bureau of Workers’ Compensation (BWC), the agency announced today. These include one located in Richland County.

“We want to improve workplace safety across Ohio, and that’s especially important in workplaces that house and educate our children, the future of this state,” said BWC Administrator/CEO Stephanie B. McCloud.

The grants are the first awarded out of $4 million BWC has slated for PK-12 safety upgrades for fiscal years 2019 and 2020. BWC announced the funding last year as a component of its $1.5 billion rebate program.

The schools sharing $242,704 include Plymouth-Shiloh Local Schools, which received $12,217.50 to install 18 indoor/outdoor security cameras together with accessories and installation.
