One of the area’s largest bluegrass and music festivals is coming to Mansfield next week, and the lineup is joined by nightly family activities.

It’s the 2018 edition of the Mansfield JamFest, bringing more acts and fun to the Richland County Fairgrounds. This year’s JamFest runs from August 21 to 25.

This year’s music lineup includes the following bands, among others, some with national followings:

  • Band of Ruhks
  • Junior Sisk & Ramblers Choice
  • Hammertowne
  • Caney Creek
  • Larry Efaw & Bluegrass Mountaineers
  • Caney Creek
  • Harbourtown

Band of Ruhks is a trio that hails from Nashville. The three first made music together two decades ago as three-quarters of the Lonesome River Band. In the ensuing years, each has become a top name draw in bluegrass. Watch and listen to the band’s “Coal Mining Man” below.

Family and special activities include:

  • Tuesday night – Euchre tournament, $5 entry
  • Wednesday night – Bluegrass bingo
  • Thursday night – Hog roast dinner and potluck dinner for weekend ticket holders
  • Friday night – Tributes to Dave Evans and the Stanley Brothers
  • Saturday — Miss Chris’ Bluegrass Kids Show, cornhole tournament, flea market

Performances will begin on Thursday evening

Day pass gate prices are: Thursday — $10; Friday — $25, Saturday — $30. Weekend ticket prices are $55. The JamFest will take place in the Fairground’s Camping Area, where campsites are $15 per day.
