Local music lovers are in for a treat this August as Mid-Ohio Opera presents two performances under the stars in Mansfield.

The work is a professional production of the Italian tragic opera “Un Ballo in Maschera,” or The Masked Ball, sung in Italian with English translations projected. These free performances will take place at:

  • Liberty Park at 7 PM on Friday, August 10
  • Kingood Center Gardens at 7 PM on Sunday, August 19

Please note that for the Kingwood performance, the venue’s entrance fee of $5 will still apply. No tickets are required for either evening.

Bring a blanket or lawn chair, drinks or snacks, and friends!

Mid-Ohio Opera will also be present the work at the McConnel Arts Center in Worthingon at 7 PM on Sunday, August 12, and at First Presbyterian Church in Wooster at 7 PM on Friday, August 17.

Un Ballo in Maschera was written by the renowned composter Guiseppe Verdi in 1859. Its plot concerns the 1792 assassination of King Gustav III of Sweden, who was killed as the result of a political conspiracy. King Gustav was shot while attending a masked ball and died of his wounds thirteen days later.
