This year we’re continuing our weekly look at unique festivals, events, and attractions that are within an easy driving distance of the Mansfield area. We call these “Summer Road Trips.”

Of course, we regularly feature the many extraordinary places to visit right here in Richland County and encourage our readers to get out and experience what is on offer in our own backyard.

In honor of Memorial Day Weekend, we’re acquainting you with the Great Lakes Fiber Show taking place at the Wayne County Fairgrounds in Wooster, an easy drive on US30. The show is open on Saturday from 10 AM to 5 PM, and Sunday from 10 AM to 4 PM.

For over two decades, this free admission event includes, according to its website:

  • a full complement of vendors featuring everything from raw fiber to supplies to finished items
  • activities for the kids
  • food vendors on the grounds, including delicious lamb sandwiches
  • an array of fiber-related crafts on display: spinning, weaving, knitting, crocheting, and more
  • a wool fleece competition, show and sale
  • skein and garment competitions
  • workshops (pre-registration and fees required)

Alongside the Fiber Show, the Great Lakes Sheep Show & Sale will be underway, with several breeds of sheep being judged and auctioned, and a used equipment sale will provide new and long-time owners with an array of choices

Parking is also free, and the Wayne County Fairgrounds are handicap accessible.

Visit this location online for more information and directions.

Send us your news — of an announcement, event,
club news, fundraiser – whatever! It’s easy to do online.
