UPDATE: This post has been updated with links to an events calendar for both of the weekends referred to below.

We’ve got great news both for fans of Richland County’s wonderful outdoors and for lovers of Richland County history. Two of the region’s favorite spring weekend “happenings” will be returning in 2019, and the date has been set for each.

First is Mohican Wildlife Weekend, which this year will be held from April 26 to April 29.

The 2019 theme will be, “Pick Your Path” by exploring the Mohican area’s trails by foot, bike, horse, and water. The Mohican area has hundreds of miles of trails for many modes of outdoor travel; over 88 miles of trails by horseback, 25 miles of trails by mountain bike, four trails with natural waterfalls, and many more miles for hiking and traveling by scenic rivers.

As in years past, there will be lots of free family-friendly events for hiking, biking, and more.

Then, on May 4 and 5, the third annual RichHistory Weekend will showcase many of the museums and historic sites that form part of the RichHistory Alliance. Included will be tours, demonstrations, exhibits, and other opportunities to immerse yourself in our area’s rich past.

And, as on previous occasions, the Ohio Civil War Show will take place the same weekend at the Richland County Fairgrounds.

Mark your calendars for both of these great weekends. UPDATE: As of February 4, a schedule of events has now been posted for Mohican Wildlife and RichHistory weekends.

In the meantime, here are sample stories and photos we previously posted here on 1812Blockhouse from Mohican Wildlife Weekend and from RichHistory Weekend.
