The Renaissance Education Department has announced that it will again offer its Improv Underground program, a free theatre improvisation course which is part of the Mechanics Bank Education Series.

Improv Underground classes focus on building basic improv skills through group activities, and are open to all students between the ages of 14 and 19. Students are guaranteed to gain self-confidence, improve communication skills, and have fun.

All classes take place at the Renaissance Theatre in Mansfield from 4-5:30 PM on Wednesdays. The course begins on February 5 and will run through April 1.  An “open mic” style performance, featuring class participants, will be held on Wednesday evening, April 10.

The course is led by Dauphne Maloney, well-known throughout the area for her work with youth theatre, with help from Renaissance Artistic Director Michael Thomas, a former Second City improv troupe member.
