Walkers from 16 churches will gather at Mansfield’s Central Park on Sunday, Oct. 2 for this year’s Church World Service CROP Walk. Registration starts at 1:30 PM. The goal is to raise $15,000 to help stop hunger.

Sponsored by the Mansfield Inter-Church Council, the group will step off at 2:00 PM from the gazebo going west on Park Avenue to South Park, south on Brinkerhoff to Maple, east to Marion and back to Park Avenue, ending at the Richland Carrousel Park. Snacks and free rides on the carrousel will be provided. For details, call Sharon Cardwell at 419-774-0123 or Diane Miller at 419-884-2441.

Twenty-five percent of funds raised will be returned to the local community benefiting pantries at Grace Episcopal Church and Mosaic at Park Ave. Baptist Church. Also benefiting are First Christian Church (monthly community breakfasts), St. Luke’s Point of Grace (Saturday evening meals) and North End Community Improvement Collaborative (NECIC) for community gardens. The remaining money will be channeled through Church World Service, a cooperative ministry of 36 Protestant, Orthodox and Anglican denominations providing self-help and development, disaster relief and refugee assistance in more than 80 countries.
