The Mansfield Police Department announced a significant leadership promotion today, as Chief Jason Bammann and Mayor Jodie Perry officially named Lt. Michael Napier as the new Assistant Chief of Police. The special swearing-in ceremony is scheduled for Thursday in City Council Chambers.

A Career of Dedication

Lt. Michael T. Napier began his law enforcement career in December 2006 with the Community Services Bureau Patrol Section. Over the years, he has made significant contributions to the department, demonstrating dedication and leadership. His career trajectory saw him promoted to Sergeant in July 2015, where he continued his work in the Patrol Section. He later transitioned to the Detective Section, further expanding his skill set.

From Sergeant to Lieutenant

In June 2017, Napier’s career took another upward turn when he was promoted to Lieutenant. In this role, he was assigned to the Office of Professional Standards within the Special Operations Bureau. This position required a broad skill set and the ability to oversee complex operations, further honing his leadership abilities.

A Multifaceted Role

Beyond his regular duties, Napier serves as a Recruitment and Training Supervisor Coordinator. His commitment to training and recruitment reflects his dedication to maintaining a high standard within the department. Additionally, he serves on both the Range and SWAT teams, demonstrating his versatility and tactical expertise.

As the new Assistant Chief of Police, Napier will bring his extensive experience and unique skills to the position. His promotion reflects the department’s commitment to recognizing and advancing talent from within. With his background in various areas of law enforcement, Napier is well-positioned to support Chief Bammann and lead the Mansfield Police Department into the future.

Join In Celebration

The community is invited to join in congratulating Lt. Napier at the swearing-in ceremony on April 25. The event will take place at City Council Chambers, 1:00 PM, providing an opportunity for friends, family, and colleagues to celebrate this significant milestone in Napier’s career. Don’t miss the chance to witness this momentous occasion and show support for the Mansfield Police Department’s newest Assistant Chief of Police.
