Catholic Charities is holding an event to mark three quarters of a century in service to the Richland County area, and you’re invited to join the celebration!

“Grace Before Meals,” with Fr. Leo Patalinghug and Bishop Daniel E. Thomas on Tuesday, will take place on November 7 at the Kehoe Center, 175 Mansfield Avenue in Shelby.

Fr. Leo, television host of Savoring Our Faith on EWTN, will demonstrate how simply creating and sharing a meal can strengthen all kinds of relationships. Doors open at 5:30 PM, and the dinner program begins at 6:30 PM. Tickets are $50 per person. There will be a cash bar.

Tickets can be purchased online by October 24 at this location.

A VIP Reception will also be held for event sponsors with Fr. Leo and Bishop Daniel E. Thomas. To become an event sponsor, call Sue Warren at 419.524.0733, ext. 229; or email [email protected].

Since 1942, Catholic Charities’ Christ-centered ministries provide people of all faiths strength and hope, love and support, by sharing food, shelter, clothing, and educational tools to move out of poverty. And services continually evolve to meet community needs:

  • The Adult Guardianship Program began in 1999, through the efforts of Morgan Rogers, a local social worker. Today, thanks to generous volunteer advocates who give their hearts, time, and treasure, nearly 50 individuals’ needs are given voice and attended to.
  • In 2011, HOPE Food Pantry began. This “choice” pantry, supported by over 25 volunteers, enables individuals to select their own food items. More than 600 households, approximately 1,500 people, are served each month.
  • Crisis Navigation Services began in 2015, in response to nearly 5,000 calls for rental assistance annually, with the help of a local foundation grant. Individuals seeking financial assistance are connected to local community resources.
  • In 2016, the 3E Pilot Project set out to Empower, Encourage, and Engage individuals on their journey to self-sufficiency, thanks to Richland County Foundation funding. This year, a Mansfield Engineered Components partnership enables 3E services to be provided weekly, on-site, at their manufacturing facility.

This is an exciting time for Catholic Charities Diocese of Toledo! Please join our celebration!
