On Monday, Richland Public Health included the following categories and numbers in its start-of-week report. One sobering statistic was the total number of positive cases on a cumulative basis, which topped 3,000. Across Ohio, deaths reached 6,000.
The number of cases county-wide represents approximately 2.5% of residents.
For Richland County:
- Confirmed Cases — 2693
- Probable Cases — 387
- Total Cases — 3080
- Cases With Recoveries — 1697
- Hospitalizations — 255
- Current hospitalizations — 72
- ICU Admissions — 55
- Deaths — 31
- Age Range — 1 month to 98 years with a median age of 45
The reported case numbers suggest that there are currently 1,352 active cases of COVID-19 among Richland Countians. In mid-July, that number stood at 133.
Across Ohio, those numbers currently stand as follows:
- Confirmed Cases — 344054
- Probable Cases — 19250
- Total Cases — 363304
- Cases With Recoveries — 230678
- Hospitalizations —24705
- ICU Admissions —4454
- Deaths — 6020
- Age Range — Less than one to 109 with a median age of 42

Calling COVID-19 a “fast runaway freight train,” on Monday Governor Mike DeWine shared information as to current hospital admissions statewide, which stand at 4,358, and increase of 558 in just four days (see below). DeWine emphasized that over the next several days, Ohio hospitals will have to make tough decisions about staffing, postponement of elective procedures, and possible postponing outpatient procedures.
