The Ohio State University and its regional campuses are seeing COVID-19 numbers increase dramatically in a way that mirrors the rest of Ohio.

In fact, according to the OSU Office of Student Life, daily student positivity rates have quadrupled in the last two or three weeks. On one Tuesday, 141 positive cases were reported.

With this increase as a backdrop, OSU President Kristina M. Johnson has issued a letter addressed to The Ohio State University community. In it, she reviews current pandemic statistics for the State of Ohio, and then provides three pieces of immediate guidance while also discussing the upcoming Thanksgiving holiday and winter break.

Immediately, on campus or off campus gatherings are again prohibited, Johnson said, even if there are less than ten people present.

Students on campus are asked to remain on campus, and those living off campus are asked not to enter the campus. Recreational facilities will remain open, and faculty and staff who can work remotely are asked to do so.

For Thanksgiving and winter breaks, President Johnson asks all students to tested before leaving for both breaks; having students following health guidelines at home; and encouraging faculty and staff to minimize travel during these periods.
