For two years, the former Charley’s Philly Steak restaurant building has sat in a forlorn condition on the northeast corner of West Fourth Street and Lexington-Springmill Road.
According to a report Thursday on WMFD.com, that is about to change.
Since its closure, the empty building has generated a great deal of interest, in large part because of its prime location on one of the busiest intersections in Richland County.
In May, 2019, the building attracted a videographer who chronicles abandoned commercial and retail locations around the country. His video can be viewed here.
Earlier in 2020, the restaurant was featured in a Richland Source “Open Source” column. Answering the question “What’s up with the old Charley’s Philly Steak shop,” the post quoted a company representative who said that a search was underway for a new tenant.
Now, according to the WMFD story, Charley’s Philly Steaks will be reopening on or about October 1. You can read that story here.
