Inflation has become a way of life recently in north central Ohio. While some commodities are holding steady in terms of price, others are increasing rapidly.
Rising costs have also impacted several almost-sacred elements of consumer culture. Consider, for instance, the $5 Hot-N-Ready pizza at many Ohio Little Caesars locations.
On Monday, the chain issued a press release suggesting that there’s more than pizza dough that’s rising there. It reads:
Little Caesars, the brand known for value, quality, and convenience, revealed a new and improved HOT-N-READY Classic Pepperoni pizza today. The new version of the brand’s most popular pizza adds 33% more pepperoni and has the same high-quality ingredients. Beginning today, consumers nationwide can get the new and improved HOT-N-READY Classic Pepperoni pizza for the price of $5.55* for a limited time, at participating locations, plus tax.

It’s an Ohio culinary institution — Bob Evans restaurants with their familiar red and brick facades.
Soon the place that is a staple for home cooked breakfasts and dinners may become a go-to venue for beer and wine as well.
Several outlets nationally and locally are reporting that Bob Evans has decided to expand its new alcoholic beverage offerings outside of its Florida operations, where they have been test marketed for some time.
With that, a number of Ohio locations have pending liquor permit applications including, according to Business First Columbus, for the restaurant at 2100 West Fourth Street in Ontario, diagonally across from Avita Ontario Hospital and Richland Mall. More…
Affordable American comfort food and breakfast all day. Familiar faces and eating at the counter. Bottomless coffee and a slice of Americana.
Diners are a staple of every community’s dining scene and every local has their personal favorite. Many regular customers feel at home in our diners and get to know the owners and servers by name. We might be biased, but our diners hold a special place in our heart. Here’s why we love our local diners…
Diners are an American tradition. Many of the earliest diners in America were built in refurbished rail cars. In keeping with this tradition, Buckeye Express Diner in Bellville, OH is located inside a refurbished train complete with an old steam engine, dining car, and caboose. This locomotive eatery sits high on a hill to beckon hungry travelers on Interstate-71 with the promise of diner food and Ohio State Buckeyes themed decor. Buckeye Express breaks with diner tradition in that it doesn’t serve breakfast, but you will find American classics galore on its wide menu. Locals and travelers alike keep coming back to this diner for the hefty burgers and their homemade fries. More…

For two years, the former Charley’s Philly Steak restaurant building has sat in a forlorn condition on the northeast corner of West Fourth Street and Lexington-Springmill Road.
According to a report Thursday on WMFD.com, that is about to change.
Since its closure, the empty building has generated a great deal of interest, in large part because of its prime location on one of the busiest intersections in Richland County. More…

OK, it may be a wee bit more than that. What’s clear, however, is that the long anticipated arrival of Five Guys Burgers and Fries to north central Ohio is right around the corner. Here’s photo proof!
The Five Guys chain launched in 1986 in Arlington County, Virginia, and had 1,500 locations with another 1,500 planned as of 2016. As shared on the corporate website, three facts are true about each of those restaurants — only fresh ground beef is used; only peanut oil is used; and coolers, not freezers, are used. More…
