On Friday evening, a ribbon cutting and customer appreciation event was held for Sixty-One Salon and Beauty Boutique in downtown Mansfield; the full-service beauty salon has been open since mid-summer. Rather than directly employing those who work there, the myriad of professionals who offer their services to customers are renting space from the salon.

Services offered include hair, nails, massage, permanent makeup, injectables, and esthetic services. The professionals are each essentially independent business owners and customers book appointments by direct contact with the stylist/barber, technician, esthetician, or artist they are seeking out. New customers may reach out the salon online here and they will be happy to facilitate contact.

The name, Sixty-One Salon and Beauty Boutique, is derived from its location at 61 North Mulberry Street. It occupies space in the bottom level of the building; the upstairs dental offices include that of salon owner Amy Staker-Breitinger, who spoke at the event of her excitement at the beautification of the space. She recalled multiple businesses and organizations having occupied this same spot over the years, and the salon undertook a significant renovation in order to accommodate its needs and the desired aesthetic. Great care has been taken to create a place that is not only functional, but also beautiful and inviting.

The ribbon-cutting was organized by the Richland Area Chamber of Commerce, and featured more than just its one pair of large scissors; many of the women who are working out of the salon brought out their own scissors to help cut the ribbon.
