Bridge Loan Received For McPherson Woods Refinance

Mercy Loan Fund (MLF), a leading Community Development Financial Institution (CDFI) today announced that it has provided a bridge loan to National Church Residences (NCR) for the refinance of McPherson Woods, an affordable, 50-home community for families in Mansfield, Ohio, a small town of approximately 45,000 people. The building, developed with Low Income Housing Tax Credits (LIHTC), has surpassed its 15-year initial compliance period.

The $1.2 million loan will help NCR refinance the property and make minor capital improvements to the property. The community provides two- and three-bedroom homes, a rarity in affordable housing. More…

Bridges On Council’s Mind

At the most recent meeting of Mansfield City Council, bridges were clearly on members’ minds, as two pieces of legislation were passed on the subject.

Council considered and passed an ordinance allowing the donation of small parcels of land owned by the City for public right-of-way improvements related to the Bowman Street Bridge project. Together, these parcels represent less than an acre of land.

The project is a cooperative effort of the City of Mansfield, the Ohio Department of Transportation, and the Federal Highway Administration. It will involve a partial reconstruction of the bridge, located between Sixth and Springmill Streets. More…

Walk To Stop Hunger On October 2

Walkers from 16 churches will gather at Mansfield’s Central Park on Sunday, Oct. 2 for this year’s Church World Service CROP Walk. Registration starts at 1:30 PM. The goal is to raise $15,000 to help stop hunger.

Sponsored by the Mansfield Inter-Church Council, the group will step off at 2:00 PM from the gazebo going west on Park Avenue to South Park, south on Brinkerhoff to Maple, east to Marion and back to Park Avenue, ending at the Richland Carrousel Park. Richland County’s Newest Dog Park Opening This Weekend

Ontario’s new Maize Memorial Dog Park will have its Grand Opening on Saturday, October 1 from 10:00 AM to 2:00 PM (rain date of October 8th). Not only will there be a ribbon-cutting with the City Council of Ontario and Mayor Randy Hutchinson, but they will officially unveil their new sign recognizing the dog park and major sponsors who made the dog park possible. There will be dog training demonstrations, a K9 unit demonstration, and a talk on dog park etiquette. Happy Shack Pizza and Kona-Ice will be at the event along with various vendors. More…
