A ribbon-cutting was held on Tuesday morning at Shaw & Ott Medical, as the family-owned business celebrated the expansion of its showroom on Lexington Avenue in Mansfield. About 50 years ago they evolved from the original corner pharmacy into a home health care business, and now the new showroom space will give Shaw & Ott a better opportunity to showcase the products and home modifications it offers.
Products available from Shaw & Ott encompass categories such as respiratory needs, sleep therapy, oxygen, lift chairs, personal safety and bathroom equipment. The company takes pride in offering personal assistance and instruction with the products and equipment it sells. Additionally, they can complete minor home modifications for customers, such as ramps, doorway widening and stair lifts.
The ribbon-cutting coincides with the 70th anniversary of the business. On hand for the ceremony from Shaw & Ott were Ary van Harlingen, Dan van Harlingen, Tom van Harlingen, Gay van Harlingen and Jon van Harlingen. Jodie Perry, President and CEO of the Richland Area Chamber of Commerce, was on hand to lead the ribbon-cutting. Mayor Tim Theaker spoke briefly, praising the business for its contribution to the continued growth and prosperity of Mansfield. Tony Vero, Richland County Commissioner, also spoke and commended Shaw & Ott for its philanthropy in Richland County.
