As we noted last week (post is here), Richland County schools experienced a decline in reported cases of COVID-19 from October numbers.

When numbers were released on Thursday, December 2 by the Ohio Department of Health, that trend continued — albeit at a much slower pace.

On November 27, we shared that a total of 70 cases were reported, including 54 for students and 16 for staff positions. On Thursday, it was reported that there have been 59 cases reported to Columbus from school settings.

That includes 44 students and 15 staff members.

District and/or buildings sharing new case information included the following:

  • Lexington — 8 students, 2 staff
  • Lucas — 9 students, 3 staff
  • Madison — 5 students, 4 staff
  • Mansfield City — 1 student, 4 staff
  • Pioneer — 6 students, 1 staff
  • Plymouth-Shiloh — 3 students
  • Shelby — 9 students, 1 staff
  • St. Mary — 1 student
  • Temple Christian — 2 students

In a similar fashion, a decline took place in the number of residents and staff in nursing homes and other long-term care facilities over the last week. Numbers reported on Wednesday revealed that nine residents and three staff had new infections in seven facilities.

Those facilities were:

  • Country Meadow — 1 resident
  • Elmcroft of Ontario — 1 resident
  • Lexington County Care Center — 6 residents
  • Oak Grove Manaor — 1 staff
  • Ontario Pointe — 1 staff
  • Waterford at Mansfield — 1 student
  • Wedgewood Estates — 1 staff
