In an announcement sent out to markets across the country on Thursday, e-commerce company Carvana shared that it is bringing its online, next-day delivery automobile purchasing service to an additional 100 communities.
Those newly served communities include Mansfield, as well as Lima and Springfield.
The way it works is this. Prospective car buyers use the Carvana website to choose a vehicle, which is then brought to them via a “touchless home delivery.” The online inteface showcases over 20,000 vehicles and features 3D tours.
Within five minutes, your new car can be on its way.
“Touchless Delivery” refers to the lack of personal interface on delivery. Think of it as the automotive equivalent of having groceries or your restruant order delivered at your door without contact.
Carvana is perhaps best-known for its car vending machines in Nashville and elsewhere, multi-story glass enclosed garages with new cars for sale.
Things have certainly come a long way since the days of the first auto shows, then the newest and best ways to sell cars. As we shared in a previous post, the very first local automobile show, held in downtown Mansfield, was a dramatically different affair, with 2,500 guests on opening night. Mansfield was said to have “autoitis” at the time.
