Tera Myers is the newest member of the Richland Newhope/Richland County Board of Developmental Disabilities.

Tera, who was appointed by the Richland County Commissioners, took the oath of office at the Commissioner’s office on Tuesday. She has the opportunity to serve on the board for up to three 4-year terms. Tera was sworn in on Tuesday at the Commissioner’s Office by Commissioner Marilyn John due to unusual circumstances regarding the Coronavirus.

“It is an honor to be chosen to serve on the Richland County Board of Developmental Disabilities. I am looking forward to working together with the Board to help continue to provide opportunities and resources for individuals served by the county board. I am excited to collaborate with our Board and community to ensure an inclusive environment of options for all citizens.”

Tera is a member of Mansfield Alliance Church and currently a Mentor Mom at Berean Baptist Church MOPS Program. Tera serves as a state and national parent advocate for Education Freedom, specifically for children with special needs. In 2011, Tera helped with the passage of the Jon Peterson Special Needs Scholarship. In 2012, she started the Unique Learning Lab for children with special needs at Mansfield Christian School. While directing the program, Tera also taught social, and life skills classes, and also worked with local public and private schools to provide better outcomes for children with learning differences.

Tera is featured along with her son Samuel and daughter Lynsey in a documentary featuring Samuels education journey titled: Tera & Sam. Tera and Samuel have taken their story and fight for Education Freedom to the Ohio Statehouse as well as the Capitol in Washington, D.C., most recently meeting with current President Donald Trump. Tera currently does consult work with the American Federation for Children based out of Washington, D.C..
