The St. Peter’s Music Series has re-started this spring after a several month hiatus caused by the extensive restoration of the interior of St. Peter’s Church.
It has been well worth the wait, however, both because of the stunning renovation but also because the Series has returned to benefit the community. As its website shares, “The St. Peter’s Music Series is committed to the growth and development of our community through collaboration in the creative and performing arts with other organizations and groups in our area and beyond.”
The next takes place Sunday as Handel’s Messiah is performed in the church sanctuary. Members from several Mansfield area churches will join the St. Peter’s Traditional Choir for this performance.
Messiah was first performed in Dublin, Ireland on April 13, 1742, and received its London premier nearly a year later. It quickly became a staple of Western choral music and remains a much-loved and often-performed piece composition.
The performance will take place Sunday at 7:30 PM.
