A familiar Richland County road is going to have a bit of a makeover.

State Route 97, just south of Butler, will close for a bridge replacement project on Monday, April 1 at mile marker 15.87.

The work has an estimated cost of $649,900 and work is scheduled to be performed by Kelstin Inc.

The detour routes are as follows:

For eastbound motorists, State Route 97 through Butler to State Route 95, north on State Route 95 to State Route 39, and then east on State Route 39 to rejoin State Route 97.

For westbound motorists, the reverse.

The road is expected to reopen on or before May 31.
