A distinctly green glow may be coming from the Mansfield Playhouse in the coming days. If you see it, do not be alarmed, particularly if it is accompanied by song and laughter.

The venue will be home to a production of Shrek The Musical JR., based on the DreamWorks Animation Motion Picture as well as the Book by William Steig. The Mansfield production will be directed by Doug Wertz.

Beauty is in the eye of the ogre in Shrek The Musical JR. It’s a “big bright beautiful world” as everyone’s favorite ogre, Shrek, leads a cast of fairytale misfits on an adventure to rescue a princess and find true acceptance. Part romance and part twisted fairy tale, Shrek JR. is an irreverently fun show with a powerful message for the whole family.

The cast includes a number of area youth, who auditioned this past August. Shows will be presented on October 21, 22, 28, and 29 at 7:00 PM, and October 30 at 2:30 PM.

Online ticket sales are available at this location.
