Parkrun Celebrates Two Years Of Fitness And Fun

Two years ago, Mansfield became just the eighth location in the United States for the internationally recognized weekly FREE 5K timed run known as parkrun. This past Saturday, parkrun celebrated that anniversary.

There’s Still Time To Get A Flu Shot

Flu activity in Ohio is increasing and widespread throughout the state for the first time during this flu season. The number of flu-associated hospitalizations are also rising with 338 new hospitalizations during the first week of January compared to 166 during the last week of December. There have been 893 total flu- associated hospitalizations in Ohio so far this flu season, which runs from October 2018 to May 2019. Health Information Kiosks Installed At County Libraries

Richland Public Health, through a grant provided by the National Network of Libraries of Medicine, is providing internet-connected Health Information Kiosks at all Mansfield/Richland County Public Library locations.

The kiosks have internet-enabled Apple iPads in them that are pre-loaded to connect to National Institute of Health (NIH) websites. Each app on the screen contains information that has been verified to contain evidence-based information to help improve access to important information. More…

First Two Weeks Of Ohio Medical Marijuana Control Program Statistics Released

The State of Ohio Board of Pharmacy has activated the Ohio Medical Marijuana Control Program Patient & Caregiver Registry. The Registry is the online portal where physicians with a certificate to recommend medical marijuana will register patients and caregivers, and also issue recommendations. Mansfield Physician Among 36 Certified On Medical Marijuana

When the State Medical Board of Ohio approved a list of 36 physicians across Ohio certified to recommend medical cannabis to patients this week, a Mansfield doctor was included. This list of independent physicians was the first made under the state’s new medical marijuana law.

The local physician certified was Dr. James Wolfe, who maintains a practice on Trimble Road in Mansfield. More…

Ashland University’s Dwight Schar College of Nursing and Health Sciences has been awarded $198,828 in renewal grant funding from the Ohio Board of Nursing’s Nurse Education Grant Program (NEGP).
