Renaissance Performing Arts Makes New Building Announcement

In its regular podcast posted on Thursday, Renaissance Performing Arts announced the acquisition and upcoming renovation of a two story building at 166 Park Avenue West. Speaking about the project was Renaissance President and CEO Mike Miller and Chairman of the Board of the Renaissance, Rand Smith.

Agency on Aging Presents Two Employee Awards of Excellence

Tax Credit Awards Announced; Richland County Left Out Again

On Tuesday, the Ohio Development Services Agency announced recipients for the 17th round of the Ohio Historic Preservation Tax Credit. And, for the 17th time in a row, no Richland County project was included.

This set of awards included $22.8 million in tax credits to 18 applicants planning to rehabilitate 33 historic buildings. Together, the projects are expected to generate $225.6 million in private investment in 12 communities across Ohio. More…

Nature Room Opens At Little Buckeye

On Tuesday, a new addition to Little Buckeye Children’s Museum was unveiled which will provide a new addition to the museum’s exhibits.

The updated Nature Room features interactive displays designed to entertain and inform. Funding was provided by the Phillips Family Foundation.

Mansfield Police Lieutenant To Retire

On Tuesday, Mansfield Police Chief Kenneth A. Coontz issued the following press release:

“Lieutenant Daniel W. Martincin announced his retirement from the Mansfield Police Department effective January 5, 2017.

Lieutenant Martincin was appointed to the department on March 18, 1989, promoted to Sergeant on February 12, 2007, and to Lieutenant on July 6, 2015. More…

Mansfield Schools Released From Fiscal Emergency

Auditor of State Dave Yost today released the Mansfield City School District from fiscal emergency, a status it held for three years.

The district was placed in fiscal emergency on Dec. 17, 2013 as a result of its failure to adopt and submit a recovery plan that would eliminate a projected fiscal year 2014 deficit. “It takes strong leadership to erase a substantial deficit,” Auditor Yost said. More…

Obituary Posted For Mansfielder Killed While Helping Others

On Sunday, we posted about a Mansfield man who was killed on Saturday while assisting others along a highway in rural West Virginia. Scott Banks was referred to as a “hero” in coverage by television station WTAP.

Banks’ obituary has now been posted online by Wappner Funeral Directors in Mansfield. It states in part, “Although his family mourns his death, they know Scott was doing exactly what he thought was right.” More…
