In a move sure to impact retail shopping in Richland County, Macy’s, Inc. has announced a temporary closing of all of its locations.
The company announced on Tuesday that In response to the widespread COVID-19 outbreak, it temporarily closed all stores by end of business on Tuesday, March 17 through March 30. This includes all Macy’s, Bloomingdale’s, Bluemercury, Macy’s Backstage, Bloomingdales the Outlet and Market by Macy’s stores. In a series of Facebook posts, retailer Chickadee Fashion Co. has announced its intention to locate a story in downtown Mansfield.

It took some time for the former Ocean Buffet to meet the wrecking ball, but its replacement is rising quickly in its place at 944 Lexington-Springmill Road.
Work is underway on a strip mall that will house five or six retail outlets. At this time, the only known occupant will be a Panda Express, although Five Guys Burgers and Fries has expressed interest in the center.
