To begin the week before Christmas 2022, we’re traveling back one year and a few thousand miles to Great Britain.
As our readers know, from time to time we travel across the pond to visit Mansfield’s sister city of Mansfield, England.
One of the many things in common between the two communities is the celebration of the holidays, which includes the installation of lights in trees and on buildings to evoke the spirit of the season.
A couple of weeks ago, Mansfield had its first snow of the season. An intrepid vlogger took the opportunity to take camera in hand and head out to the central city area.
The result was quite beautiful, and can be viewed here and below.
The city is full of seasonal activities, which can be viewed on the Christmas in Mansfield page hosted by the local district council. As noted, the decision was made to forego the annual Christmas Tree lighting with its crowds and instead focus on smaller, “reduced capacity activities.”
There are no shortage of those – from the annual Christmas pantomime (this year’s production at the Mansfield Palace Theatre will be “Sleeping Beauty,” a “Winter Festival” with Christmas movies, a children’s party and a Santa appearance, to touring inflatable life-sized snow globes that can be entered for photo taking (there’s one here – take a look).
