Special to 1812Blockhouse, By Renaissance Performing Arts Association

The Renaissance Performing Arts Education Department has announced that it will again offer its popular Improv Underground program, a free theatre improvisation course which is part of the Mechanics Bank Education Series.

During the workshop,  students will gain confidence, and develop stronger interpersonal skills through participation in theatre games and improvisation.

Improv Underground classes focus on building basic improv skills through group activities and are open to all students between the ages of 14 and 19. Students are guaranteed to gain self-confidence, improve communication skills, and have fun.  All classes take place at the Renaissance Theatre in Mansfield from 4:00 PM-5:30 PM on Wednesdays.

The course begins on February 23, 2022 and will run through April 6, 2022.  An “open mic” style performance, featuring class participants, will be held on Wednesday evening, April 6th,  at the Renaissance Theatre.  The course is led by Dauphne Maloney, well-known throughout the area for her work with youth theatre.
