The Mansfield Symphony Orchestra launches its 2016-2017 OhioHealth Masterworks Series this Saturday with an ambitious program highlighting the extraordinary range of music from this hemisphere.

Included on the program will be the Four Dances from Estancia of Argentinian composer Alberto Ginestera, as well as Antonin Dvorak’s New World Symphony, the latter featuring as the Capital University Chamber Percussion Ensemble. Also to be presented is be the well-known and dynamic Trumpet Concerto of Joseph Haydn with soloist Ken Holzworth, Principal Trumpet of the MSO.

The MSO will be conducted by Theodore Kuchar, a Urkranian-American conductor who is one of those considered to official take the baton. According to this Wikipedia entry, he has held conducting and musical director posts with the Queensland Philharmonic Orchestra and West Australian Ballet in Australia; the National Symphony Orchestra of Ukraine; the Boulder Philharmonic in Colorado; the Fresno Philharmonic in California; the Reno Chamber Orchestra in Nevada; the Janacek Philharmonic in the Czech Republic; and the Venezuela Symphony Orchestra.

Saturday’s concert will take place at 8:00 AM at the Renaissance Theatre. Ticket prices range from $10 to $39, and can be purchased at this site.
