Gardeners, unite! It’s time for the annual Raising Richland Community Garden Summit.

The Summit, now in its eighth year, brings community partners together to bring together some of the best gardening (and even cooking!) talent in the area…and beyond. The event is organized by: NECIC; Mansfield Richland County Public Library; The Ohio State University College of Food, Agricultural, and Environmental Sciences; Richland County Master Gardener Volunteers; Richland Public Health Creating Healthy Communities; and Richland Soil and Water Conservation District.

This year’s featured speakers and topics are:

Dave Duncan – Beekeeping 101

Sophia Buggs – Healthy Soil

Susanne Gerhart – Preserving the Harvest Cooking Demo

This event is kid friendly, and the young ones have their own summit with a theme of Explore the Amazing Underground World in Our Soil. There’ll be snacks, activities, and lots of stuff to keep the little ones busy. The Youth Summit is suitable for ages 5 through 12.

Once again, local vendors will feature some of their delicious, aromatic, and beautiful hand-made items, including: lip balms, honey, teas, tinctures, glass garden art, soaps, and more! So bring cash and be prepared to pamper yourself, or a loved one, with one-of-a-kind indulgence!

The event, the food, and the programs are all at no charge. Door prizes will also be available; just register at the door, get a ticket, and wait for your name to be called to take home one of many garden-themed prizes donated by generous community members.

The event is Thursday from 5 – 8 PM at the Longview Center, 1495 West Longview Avenue, Mansfield.

Send us your news — of an announcement, event,
club news, fundraiser – whatever! It’s easy to do online.
