Teams from Wisconsin, Indiana, Maryland, Pennsylvania, Canada, and Ohio will play basketball this weekend right here in Mansfield.

The two-day Evolving Through Love Basketball Classic, featuring the Mansfield Senior High Tygers and other teams from the United States and Canada, will tip off Saturday morning in Senior High’s Pete Henry Gym.

The event was organized by Christen Lee, a 2003 Senior High graduate and founder of Evolving Through Love. Proceeds will be used for cancer support services, the Ronald McDonald House and homeless and wounded veterans. Lee’s nonprofit organization is collaborating with We ACT and UMADAOP (the Urban Minority Alcohol Drug Abuse Outreach Program) in Mansfield to stage the event. Mansfield City Schools is not a sponsor but is donating use of the gym. Lee has said the tournament will feature some of the top boys teams in the U.S. and Canada.

The U.S. Army Recruiting Service and the 179th Airlift Wing of the Oho Air National Guard will be part of the event. Richland Outreach Center will sponsor a free Kids Zone for fans with activities and a coloring contest with prizes.

Daily basketball play will be from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Tickets each day, available at the door, will be $12 for adults and $6 for students. Children 5 and younger will be admitted free.
