These days, many in Calfornia’s Bay Area are enjoying the music of indie pop rocker Perhapsy.

Perhapsy is the stage name for Mansfielder Derek Barber.

Earlier this month, East Bay Express, which covers the music and entertainment scene in Oakland, Berekley, and other area cities, profiled Barber. The article, titled “Going Alone,” talks about the artist’s move from band to solo performer.

In the piece, they also looked at the personal and professional hurdles he has overcome, noting “If every musician has a unique story, Perhapsy’s is of an Oakland artist reckoning with all sorts of trials — and triumphs.” It also references his north central Ohio connection.

The East Bay Express story can be read here.

Perhapsy’s latest album, cntitled “The,” came out in March. It and much of his work can be accessed on Soundcloud. Below is the single “All My Soul Swallowed,” which has been listened to over 10,000 times to date.
