Mansfielder Selected As President/CEO Of Philadelphia’s African American Museum

A Mansfielder has been chosen to head one of the foremost institutions in the country focusing on the story of African Americans, the African American Museum in Philadelphia.

Dr. Ashley Jordan was selected in a process that took almost an entire year, who brings significant experience and expertise in leading cultural institutions in the field. Her most recent position was Senior Director of Development for the National Underground Railroad Freedom Center in Cincinnati.

Jordan has also held a position with the National Afro-American Museum in Wilberforce, and has also taught at North Central State College here in Mansfield.

Chief Harper To Be Inducted Into Civil Rights Hall Of Fame

Former Mansfield Police Chief Lawrence Harper, who passed away last year, will be among those honored by induction into the Ohio Civil Rights Hall of Fame, the Ohio Civil Rights Commission has announced.

The ceremony will take place on October 5 in the Ohio Statehouse Atrium. Harper is one of four inductees, the other being Lieutenant Colonel Gilbert H. Jones, the Marching Mothers and Children of the 1954 Hillsboro Fight for Integration, and Moses Fleetwood Walker. More…

Mansfielder Makes Simon Cowell Smile On National TV

Daniel Ferguson, a current resident of Mansfield, appeared on Monday night’s edition of America’s Got Talent. As he shared on stage, it was his first time in front of a live audience; his moment on national television can be seen below.

Ferguson, who is a sales rep for local radio stations, is a recent graduate of Kent State University. For some time he has been creating videos of his impersonations of celebrities, cartoon characters, and others. More…

Mansfielder Gains Division III All-Region Honors

An athlete from Mansfield who competes for Hamilton College has collected U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association All-Region honors for the 2017 Division III outdoor track & field season, according to the school.

Cat Berry ’19, as well as two others, are all-Atlantic Region honorees for the first time in their Hamilton track & field careers. More…
