This year we’re continuing our weekly look at unique events and attractions that are within an easy driving distance of Richland County. For the first time in two years, we’re sharing events taking place in-person, although by all means please all ahead and verify what social distancing, masking, etc. We call these Summer Road Trips.

Of course, we regularly feature the many extraordinary places to visit right here in Richland County and encourage our readers to get out and experience what is on offer in our own backyard.

There’s nothing Michigan-esque or Indiana-ish during the Made in Ohio Art & Craft Festival.

The 12th annual edition, coming on September 2-4 (10 AM to 5 PM each day) at Hale Farm & Village in Bath, will feature a juried selection of  Ohio artisans, local food, entertainment and all that Hale Farm & Village has to offer. Vendors include jewelry artists, potters, woodworkers, glass artists, soap and lotion makers, quilters, and a variety of other unique artisans.

Visitors can eat at Hale Farm or at any of the participating food vendors serving local foods and snacks such as ice cream, salads, bakery, sandwiches and kettle corn.

Hale Farm & Village itself showcases period buildings, grounds, and craft demonstrations.

The entertainment line-up is as follows:

Friday September 2

  • Jay Nye
  • Russ Franzen
  • Rockin’ Rick

Saturday September 3

  • Magic Nate
  • Chris Soulsby

Sunday September 4

  • Marcus Ladrach
  • Rockin’ Rick
  • Magic Nate
  • Akron Symphonic Winds

Admission at the door is $12 for adults (13 and up) and $6 for youth (3 to 12). Please note that some vendors accept cash only, we do not have an ATM on the property – please plan accordingly. Only service animals are allowed on the property. Hale Farm & Village is at 2686 Oak Hill Road in Bath. From Richland County, take I71 north, turn on I76 east, and then go north on I77.
