County Fair Dates Released For 2023

Ohioans can start planning visits to all of their favorite fairs across the state. This past week, the Ohio Department of Agriculture released the official dates for the 2023 fair season, which includes Ohio’s 94 county and independent fairs and the Ohio State Fair.

The Paulding County Fair will kick off the 2023 fair season on June 12, and the season will wrap up on October 14 with the Fairfield County Fair. 

Here are dates for the Richland County Fair and county fairs in all of its contiguous counties:

Fall Road Trip: Woosterfest!

This year, we’re going to add a handful of Fall Road Trip ideas to our usual staple of Summer Road Trips. Each provides Richland Countians with an easy day trip idea that features something unique and different.

As always, we remind our readers that Richland County itself if full of interesting things to see and do. For the latest information on those places, visit the website of Destination Mansfield – Richland County.

It’s an easy drive east along US30 to the nearby city of Wooster, home to that annual combination of fun, food, and festivity known as Woosterfest.

This year’s 39th Annual edition is a free family event will serve as a kick-off to fall, and will take place on Friday, September 30 and Saturday, October 1.

Arts And Culture To Fill Central Park

The Mansfield Arts and Culture Festival will be filing Central Park this Saturday with treats for the eye, ear, and taste buds.

The event, an annual celebration of the arts in Richland County, showcases local artists and other wonderful area talent. Hours are 11 AM to 6 PM.

This year’s them is “Everyone Is An Artist.”

On hand will be area artists in paint/glass/fiber/wood/clay/ and more, demonstrations, awards, an SFX artist, food, and music.

Summer Road Trips: It’s All About Ohio At This Festival

This year we’re continuing our weekly look at unique events and attractions that are within an easy driving distance of Richland County. For the first time in two years, we’re sharing events taking place in-person, although by all means please all ahead and verify what social distancing, masking, etc. We call these Summer Road Trips.

Of course, we regularly feature the many extraordinary places to visit right here in Richland County and encourage our readers to get out and experience what is on offer in our own backyard.

There’s nothing Michigan-esque or Indiana-ish during the Made in Ohio Art & Craft Festival.

Shiloh Ox Roast Boasts A Whole Lot Of Beef

10,000 pounds of beef is a lot of cow!

That is what’s on offer this year at the 56th Annual Fireman’s Ox Roast in Shiloh, an event that will look quite a bit like it has in years past — and which will taste just as good!

A full lineup of food will be on hand, including sales of beef, baked beans, potato salad, hot dogs, cake, and pie — and other food vendors will be on hand as well.

The fun will take place on Friday, July 29 and Saturday, July 30. Bulk sales of meat, baked beans, and potato salad will take place at the fire station on Delaware Street. Food will be served from 11 AM to 9 PM each day.

Ontario 4th Of July Festival Has Something For Just About Everyone

It’s the type of family-oriented, fun festival that they used to hold in years past. The 2022 Ontario Fourth of July Festival is bigger, better, and being held in a new location.

Marshall Park will be the scene for activity on Friday, June and Saturday, July 2.

Featured will be food (and lots of it with food eating contests included), music, games, s beer garden on Friday evening, a 5K run with $3,000 in cash prizes, a kids area, and a raffle where you can win a car!

Kicking off the festival Friday, July 1st, it is the Ontario Youth Sports – Milliron Auto Parts Land Regatta, the Ontario Car Show, and much more.

Celebration To Include Mansfield’s First-Ever Juneteenth Parade

It’s not every day that a new parade hits the streets of downtown Mansfield.

A week from Saturday. that first-ever parade will form a centerpiece for a day-long celebration focused on downtown Mansfield’s Central Park.

The Juneteenth Parade, Festival, and Health Fair will take place on June 18 from 10:00 AM until 6:00 PM. The Parade will lead things off and will proceed down Park Avenue West. Special guest marching bands and drumlines, dance groups, local churches, businesses, organizations, and political candidates will be featured.

Today we’re highlighting the return of one of central Ohio’s traditional events — the Columbus Arts Festival.

While many favorite artists, local bands, hands-on activities and food vendors return to the Columbus Arts Festival, there are always new things to discover at the welcome to summer event presented by the American Electric Power Foundation and produced by the Greater Columbus Arts Council (Arts Council). Here are some of the adventures in store for the more than 450,000 guests coming to the 2022 festival, June 10-12:

Yes, There Will Be A Prairie Peddler

It’s a north central Ohio institution – the annual Prairie Peddler Festival, which takes place off of State Route 97 near Butler.

The 2020 edition of Prairie Peddler will look and function a bit differently, but what makes the event a regional favorite is still there. This year’s Prairie Peddler, set for September 26-27 and October 3-4, is still an opportunity for the entire family to step back in time, sample delicious food, and shop at artisan booths. More…
