The Mansfield City Schools Board of Education has a choice to make.

Five applicants are seeking to fill a vacancy on the Board of created by the recent resignation of Monica Hubbard. The deadline for submitting letters of interest to board president Renda Cline was at noon Monday.

Applicants are:

Chauncey Bragg, 211 S. Adams St.

Heather Coles, 114 Lind Ave.

Judy Forney, 560 Chevy Chase Road

Kim Moton, 293 Second Ave.

Crystal Weese, 194 Fairlawn Ave.

The board of education will meet in special session at 5:30 p.m. on Feb. 7 at the Raemelton administration building. Immediately after convening the board will adjourn to executive session to interview the five applicants individually. The board will return to public session to vote on their choice.

The applicant selected will be sworn in by Treasurer Robert Kuehnle at the board’s regular meeting at 5:30 PM on Feb. 21 at Malabar Intermediate School. He or she will serve the remainder of Hubbard’s term through December 31. If the new member desires to serve a full four-year term, he or she must be a candidate in the November election.
