There’s no question that Richland Countians, like their counterparts across the country, continue to celebrate the holidays with decorated live or artificial Christmas trees.
The American Christmas Tree Associates claims that some 78% of American households will have displayed a tree in their home this season. This represents sales of some 22.6 million live trees, and 11.5 million artificial versions.
What happens to this large quantity of trees after the holidays are over?
Locally, you may bring your cut live Christmas Trees to the front gate of the Yard Waste Facility at 441 Cairns Road or to one of the 14 permanent Drop-Off Recycling locations from December 26 through January 15, 2017. Please remove all glitter and ornaments so that the trees may be ground into mulch.
